Are you doing business in a way that is convenient for your customers, or are you making your customers do business in a way that's convenient for you?
Consider this ... Have you ever tried to do business with someone but given up in the middle of the transaction because it was just plain too difficult?
I was at a major fast food restaraunt a few months ago and overheard an argument between a customer and a manager. The customer had ordered items separately that could have been grouped together to form a 'value meal' purchase. The manager told the customer that he "had ordered incorrectly." Are you requiring your customers to have special knowledge in order to do business with you?
Take a moment and consider the steps to a transaction from initial contact to post sale follow up. If, by the very nature of your business, you must possess knowledge that your customers do not ... ask yourself if you are helping them with your knowledge or using it against them. Next, ask your customers how easy it is (or difficult it is) to do business with you. You'll be suprised at how much your customers can tell you about your business!
